Brian Williams anchored NBC's newscast from Las Vegas, the site of the MSNBC Democratic Presidential debate, where he was obviously still smarting from the deluge of protest calls his network's affiliate received when he lengthened the vowel in the second syllable of the state's name. George Lewis showed us the official NBC Handbook of Pronunciation, published during World War II, that vindicated Williams' non-Hispanic rendition of the snowy state. Williams relented. It is Nevada not Nevada.
