COMMENTS: Flower Power
"Rather than asking for permission we ask for forgiveness." That was the explanation Mr Stamen, guerrilla gardener, gave to ABC's Brian Rooney for his reverse vandalism. Stamen, his nom de garden, descends on highway medians in Los Angeles under cover of darkness to replace blight with plants. "Reverse vandals, who come out not to destroy but to beautify," Rooney called them. He showed us guerrillagardening.org, with examples of urban renewal from Brussels to Rome, Philadelphia to London, "spreading the seeds of a floral revolution."
