Lucky Seth Doane landed a CBS assignment to the fir forests of Michoacan in the central Mexican highlands. While he was there he worried about habitat depletion and deforestation, illegal logging and excessive use of firewood by local peasants. But mainly he was able to get on his horse and ride the southern end of the migratory route of the monarch butterfly, the groves where 250m of them spend their winter: "Blue skies turn orange."
