CONTAINING LINKS TO 1280 STORIES FROM THE NETWORKS' NIGHTLY NEWSCASTS
COMMENTS: Oil Disaster Anniversary Turns to CBS and ABC

Monday, features marking the first anniversary of the oil rig explosion in the Gulf of Mexico qualified it as Story of the Day, even though ABC did not contribute. Now, the anniversary is Story of the Day again, with NBC skipping the coverage and extended features from ABC's Matt Gutman and CBS' Mark Strassmann. Strassmann covered the continuing pollution of Louisiana's coastal marshes; Gutman's Investigation looked into health problems plaguing local workers who were on the front line of the clean-up effort. NBC led with its own Investigation feature by Michael Isikoff into the business record of Donald Trump, the real estate billionaire turned reality gameshow celebrity (on NBC, yet) turned possible Presidential candidate. ABC anchor Diane Sawyer was in Washington to lead with Lisa Stark on snafu at Andrews AFB, where First Lady Michelle Obama's Boeing 737 flew too close behind a massive C-17 transport jet on approach to landing. CBS led with a pair of air traffic stories: Bob Orr covered both the Andrews snafu and a controler in the Cleveland tower who watched a DVD of the movie The Cleaner while on the job.
