COMMENTS: Hiring Follows Stocks in Upward Direction

Positive signs of a recovering economy qualified as Story of the Day for the second time this week. On Tuesday, new records were set by the major stock market indices, the highest marks since the fall of 2007. On Friday, February's unemployment rate was announced, falling to 7.7%, the lowest level since the end of 2008. All three newscasts led with the improvement in the labor market: NBC's Tom Costello and CBS' Anthony Mason looked at the overall picture; ABC's David Muir focused on new hiring in the construction sector, complete with a third friendly plug for Maze Nails. The business in Peru Ill that supplies the building trade was first publicized by Muir's Made in America segments in October 2011 and then again last May: "Nobody buys nails because they just want to stockpile them."
